Edit or Reset an email template

You can update the content of the automated email templates to customize Cimpl to your organization's needs. You can also reset an email template back to Cimpl's original default template, if you need to.

You can edit:

  • The Sender email. A default email is prepopulated.

Note: To edit the default sender email for templates, you must contact cimpl-support@uplandsoftware.com.

  • Reply to Email

  • Email subject.
  • Message. The message will include Placeholder text (e.g. [%EMPLOYEE_FN%]) that you can remove or insert different ones.

Edit a template:

  1. Go to Configuration > System Preferences > Email Template Management.
  2. Click the email template entry. The template opens.
  3. If applicable, select the Language.
  4. If applicable, update the Sender Email.
  5. If applicable, update the Reply to Email address.
  6. If applicable, update the Subject.

Note: Click the link to display the full list of placeholders for the Subject field.

  1. Update Message to Send in the follow ways:
    • Add or remove plain text content.
    • Highlight and delete Placeholder text.

      OR

    • Insert a Placeholder.

      1. Place your cursor where you want to insert the placeholder.

      2. Open the Insert Placeholder menu.

      3. Select the Placeholder. The Placeholder is inserted where you cursor was placed in the body of the message.

Caution: If you change the text of these smart placeholders in the email template, they won't work as intended. If altered, recipients of the emails only see fragmented code caused by changes to the placeholders.

  2. Click Save. The template is updated with your changes.
